My thoughts on teaching and learning 1
I am someone who is concerned about mass education, thriving to figure out how to devise ways to pull learners who perish if they don`t fit into the conformity of our education system. We understand the need for students to be able to continue learning long after their formal education has finished. It makes sense that if they are to cope and adapt to the challenges of the future, they will need to be able to carry on learning new things. We recognise that making students dependent on teachers for their learning is not ultimately helpful, because the teacher will not be there once formal education is over. Hence, we need to integrate our lessons with activities that aim to get our students to improve their learning capacity so that our students can gradually become more able to regulate their own learning and become independent learners. Like most worthwhile goals, it is not easy and takes time, but there are lots of good ways to make it happen. We start by helping our students to develop not just skills and knowledge but attitudes and attributes.
